Hello!
After a four year silence I finally have a work eligible for awards so of course I had to shriek about it, particularly since it’s my debut novel on which I have been working on (off and on, given life emergencies and a fulltime academic job!) for twenty years*!
Watermyth was published on 7 January 2024 and is eligible for your awards consideration. It is a thick novel that has time-jumps, a strong cast of BIPOC women, a mermaid-siren hybrid storyteller who is memory-wiped, characters from various South Asian and Muslim diasporas and is situated within a postcolonial portal fantasy universe with warring merkingdoms.

Please note that although Watermyth is my debut novel, I have been a professionally published author since 2015 and am therefore not eligible for the Astounding. That is all. I hope you will pick up the novel and if you enjoy it, do consider it for your long-form fiction award nominations, particularly for fantasy awards.
*Fear not, Gentle Reader, the sequel will not take as long and I am projecting a 2025-2026 publication, Insya-Allah!
