There have been some changes around my online presences that make this post a necessity. I’ve had a week off owing to nationwide Eid/Labour Day (I mistakenly put Wesak Day but that’s apparently next Monday!) public holidays and some annual leave taken to round up the week off — like most people in the public/civil service (yes, these include those of us who are academics in public universities). I’ve mostly avoided the chaos of festivities and have been doing domestic-type things while tending to my fatigue and trying to catch up on the writing. While doing so, I reflected on the various things diluting my focus and causing additional fatigue. I appear to operate best while on a streamlined, minimalist mode of living. This extraordinary level of fatigue I’ve been experiencing due to trying to do everything, be everything at work etc, caught up with me during the holidays, rendering me totally useless! (took the test, not the dastardly plague)
Therefore, some streamlining became necessary. For instance, I’ve decided to retire the newsletter. I put in a whole lot of effort for a tiny list, when my sites get substantially more hits per day than a newsletter of me waffling and wasting your time. To those who subscribed, I thank you. All future updates will be on this website! It just makes sense to make these posts twice a month in lieu of the newsletter. I always feel so apologetic because I know my waffle is hitting people’s inboxes! Feels so inconsiderate!
If, at some point a newsletter becomes feasible again (when/if I have a wider reader-base and have publications of note again), I may start a new one. But for now, I’m focusing on the things needing my urgent attention work-wise, while also focusing on self-care and mindfulness.
Ergo, for the time being, these connected websites will be the only places for any kind of updates from me. Which was the original plan, after all. There’s plenty of information here, to be honest. Probably too much! 🙂
I won’t say anything about the creative writing front because it’s basically the same old, same old and I’ve nothing new to report!
